Choreography
With over 20 years of professional experience, Rachel Bruce Johnson's choreography has been described as "often interested in the lightness and weight of the body...in Johnson's hands a masterpiece" [about Avelut, Alicia Chesser, Urban Tulsa Weekly]. Johnson's choreography/filmography work has been included in the American College Dance Festival’s gala invitational in 2007, the National Dance Association/AAHPERD convention, Screen Door Film Festival, Tulsa Ballet's Creations in Studio K, New Genre Festival, American Collegiate Dance Festival, Living Arts Council of Tulsa, {254}-Dance-Fest, Rogue Dance Festival and various other multi-disciplinary venues. Ms. Johnson’s film work is centralized around dance specifically made for the film medium. This entails considering dance and film equally in all its depth and complexity to fuse the two mediums into the genre of dance for camera. Ms. Johnson holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Performance and Choreography from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX. She is particularly interested in performance process and in creating dance work for stage and for camera.
